PERSONAL BACKGROUND OF BARRY D. ROSE
The selection of an attorney, especially for Family Law matters, is an intensely personal decision. Therefore, it may be helpful to provide you with some personal information about me so you can more easily conclude that I am the right lawyer for you.
I am originally from Syracuse, New York, and attended Cornell University in nearby Ithaca, New York. As an avid amateur musician, I was a member of the Cornell Glee Club and traveled on a number of international concert tours. I was also a member of Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity.
After college, I embarked on an interesting career in the entertainment business, working aboard cruise ships in the Caribbean as a folksinger and social staff person. That experience led to executive positions in the home office of cruise lines based in Los Angeles and Seattle; I moved to King County in 1983. In 1989, I changed careers and fulfilled a life long dream of becoming an attorney.
I attended the University of Puget Sound School of Law in Tacoma, graduating with honors in 1992 (that law school is now part of Seattle University). I also had the opportunity to serve on the Editorial Board of the Law Review and was fortunate enough to receive a number of other academic honors. I was admitted to the Bar in 1992.
My interest in travel continues to this day. I love visiting Europe and also enjoy traveling around our beautiful country. My other travel passion is boating, which I have enjoyed since my youth. My family and I love cruising the waters of Lake Washington, Puget Sound, the San Juan Islands and Canadian destinations.
Speaking of family, rest assured that I closely identify with my clients based on personal experience. I went through the difficult process of divorce after a lengthy marriage. I concluded that things really do turn out for the best.
I am now happily remarried and we enjoy our children, as well as our grandchildren, whom we spoil at every opportunity.
It is a privilege to be a lawyer. I love my work and am dedicated to my clients and my community. I have always been involved with community activities. I volunteer with a legal clinic, the Eastside Legal Assistance Program, as well as with the King County Volunteer Mediation Program. It is important to give back to the community that has given me so much.
